American Corner Nis was opened on February 14, 2003. This project is the result of the cooperation between the Nis Public Library Stevan Sremac, the City of Nis and the US Embassy in Belgrade. The American Corner provides access to current and reliable information about the U.S. via its book collections, the Internet, and through a variety of events such as speaker programs, lectures, seminars, documentary and movie projections, workshops, meetings, exhibits, discussion clubs, English-language classes, TOEFL and other tests, various exchange programs, holiday celebrations, and serves as an information outpost similar to a public library.

The French Institute in Serbia is an integral part of a worldwide network composed of more than 100 French institutes; the mission of the institute is to build new roads between France and Serbia through culture, education, innovation and knowledge. The successor of the French Cultural Center in Belgrade, the cultural and educational operator of the Embassy of France the French Institute has its headquarters in Belgrade, Nis and Novi Sad. It works on projects (independently or in partnership) in the area of art, culture, teaching and promotion of the French language, higher education and research, and it is also dedicated to youth, cultural and social innovations, as well as debates on many great contemporary topics (environment, social and territorial connectivity, gender equality issues). French Institute in Nis was opened in 2003 and it was result of the cooperation between the Nis Public Library Stevan Sremac, the City of Nis and French Cultural Center from Belgrade.
