Sasa Zivic was born in 1971 in Nis.

He attended primary and secondary grammar school in Nis. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Nis in 1998. He specialized in general surgery in 2004. He attained his Master’s Degree in Medical Sciences in the field of vascular surgery in 2006. He is completing his PhD studies in the field of cardiac surgery and cardiac surgery subspecialist studies at the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade.

He has been working at Nis Clinical Center since 1999 where he was the head of the Department for Venous Diseases and Chief of Department Specialist, Consultative and Diagnostic Suggestions. Since 2012, he has been at the position of the Assistant Director of the Vascular Surgery Clinic at Nis Clinical Center. He is a member of many international boards in the field of vascular surgery, as well as a reviewer in international journals.
From 1986 to 1990 Sasa Zivic was a member of the inner presidency of the Alliance of Socialist Youth of Serbia for the Municipality of Nis. In 1987 he was elected a delegate of the Nis Municipality Assembly in the Socio – Political Council. He was a member of the Nis City Assembly Information Commission.

He served as the Assistant Mayor from 2013 to 2016.

He was recognized for his achievements as a part of a team for the implementation of the project “Introduction and Development of Cardiac Surgery in Nis Clinical Center” by the biggest city award “11th January”.

He is the founder of the Serbia Socialist Party in Nis.

He is married and has two children.
