KATARINA MITROVSKI

CITY OMBUDSMAN

Katarina Mitrovski was born in Niš in 1981. She graduated from the Faculty of Law. She passed the state professional exam in 2010. She has been professionally engaged in City of Niš Administration since 2007.

In 2007 she worked on providing assistance in exercising the right of communication between employees in city administrations and people with hearing impairment. From 2007 to 2008 she worked in local communal offices and on the tasks related to labor relations. From 2009 to 2011 she was engaged in sign language translation. From 2011 to 2015 she worked on providing assistance in exercising the rights of persons with disabilities.

In 2015 she was the coordinator for human resources management and was in charge of analyzing the work in city administrations, proposing measures for optimization, systematization and improvement of the functioning of the city adminsitrations, coordination and implementation of trainings, monitoring the implementation of the Public Administration and Local Self-Government Reform Strategy.

In 2016 she was the assistant Head of the Administration for Civil Status and General Affairs. In 2017 she was the Head of the Office of the Head of the City Administration. In 2018, she was the acting Deputy Head of the City Administration. From February 2019 to December 2020 she was the Deputy Head of the City of Niš Administration with powers and responsibilities related to the management, organization and harmonization of the work of the City Administration. From December 2020 to June 2021 she was the acting Head of the City Administration for Social Affairs.

She completed basic mediation training at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade. She was appointed the project leader of financial management and control in the City of Niš departments. She is a member of the network and an associate on the project “Human Resources Management in Local Self-Government”, which is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Standing Confrence of Towns and Municipalities and the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade. She is an associate and trainer of the Anti-Corruption Agency for ethics and integrity issues in public administration and a member of the working team for the development of the Local Anti-Corruption Plan. She completed training in the field of public policies of the European Union at the Faculty of Law in Niš. By the decision of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia she was appointed as a permanent court interpreter for sign language, for the area of ​​the High Court in Niš.

She is fluent in English and has basic knowledge of Italian.
