INCREASED NUMBER OF TOURISTS IN FIRST QUARTER OF THIS YEAR BY 39%

 

In the first quarter of this year (January-April), there was an increase in the number of tourists in Nis by 39 % compared to the same period last year, of which as much as 50 %more are foreign tourists, while the number of domestic tourists increased by 31 %.

The total number of overnight stays for the same period this year increased by 22%. Of these, the number of overnight stays of foreigners increased by 35 %, while the number of domestic tourists staying overnight increased by 12%

The continuation of the positive trend is expected as well as the increase in numbers of those who see Nis as an interesting destination. In the coming period the promotion of Nis as a tourist destination will be continued at the Days of Serbia in Timisoara, and then within the My Serbia Campaign during June and July, and at the Days of Serbia to be held in Thessaloniki on July 12th.

During June Tourist Organization of Nis together with the Airline Ryanair will implement a joint campaign via the company’s website for a period of three weeks and in the countries where the company has direct flights from the Nis airport and thus trying to attract even more tourists to Nis.




NIS AIRPORT CONTINUES TO BREAK RECORDS IN THE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS

 

Today 124 918th passenger has landed at Nis Airport Constantine the Great and in this way, after only five months, the Nis Airport achieved a record number of passengers, higher than during the whole of 2016, which was otherwise the most successful so far. The honorary passenger was Vanesa from Germany who flew to Nis to visit her best friend. She was greeted at the airport by Nis City Mayor Darko Bulatovic and the airport general manger Vladica Djurdjanović who presented to her a symbolic gift to mark this day and her stay in Nis.

On this occasion, the Mayor said that he was glad that the Nis airport was put into operation and that it was operating at full capacity. He added that the works on reconstruction of the terminal were nearing their completion.




100.000TH PASSENGER AT NIS AIRPORT

Nis citizen Ninoslav Milenkovic landed this morning, as 100 000th passenger, at the Nis Airport Constantine the Great. He was greeted at the airport by the City of Nis delegation led by Mayor Darko Bulatovic and the director of Nis Airport Vladica Djurdjanovic. “This is an important day for Nis and for the development of Nis airport, because, after just four months, Nis Airport has 100 000 passengers, which is a record compared to last year when 100 000th passenger landed at the end of 2016,” as Mayor Bulatovi said. He pointed out that the reconstruction of the airport building is nearing its completion. “If everything goes according to plan, next year we are expecting a number of innovations at the Constantine the Great Airport. We, together with the Government of the Republic of Serbia, have showed that we are very keen on developing air traffic in this part of Serbia. This much interest of passengers, both from Nis, and from the region, confirms that there are good prospects in the future”, added Mayor Bulatovic. Ninoslav Milenkovic, who is also flew from Dortmund, said that he was a regular traveler from Nis airport because his family lived in Germany and he flew every week. He stressed that the establishment of regular line between Nis and this German city meant a lot because he could see his family more often.




NUMBER OF TOURISTS IN NIS INCREASES

According to the Republic Bureau of Statistics, at the beginning of 2017, the total tourist traffic in Nis increased. In January this year there was an increase in the number of tourists by 32% compared to the same period last year. 21.4 % were domestic tourists while the number of foreign tourists who come to our city is 41 % higher. In January, there were 7% more of overnight stays than in the same period last year, while the number of domestic tourists spending the night in Nis decreased by 15% while the number of foreign tourists spending the night in Nis increased by 30%.




49% MORE TOURISTS IN NIS IN DECEMBER 2016 THAN IN DECEMBER 2015

 

According to the Republic Bureau of Statistics, in December 2016, Nis was visited by 49% more tourists than in the same time in 2015; the number of domestic tourists increased by 22%, while the number of the foreign tourists increased by 72%. In December last year 37% more tourists stayed overnight than in December 2015. From January to December 2016, 12% percent more tourists visited Nis than in the same period in 2015. The hotels’ facilities were full since 8.6% tourist more used the services of the hotels and hostels in the same period.

If we compare tourism traffic in 2016 to a continuous period since 2013, there is an increase of 35% with arrivals of domestic tourists being increased by 23% and foreign by as much as 48%. The largest number of foreign tourists in Nis came from Bulgaria, Greece and Germany, who during 2015 were the most frequent visitors of Nis. Bulgarians, Germans and Greeks in 2016 visited Nis by 30% more than in 2015. Also there is the notable increase in the number of foreign tourists from the Russian Federation and Turkey.
